Victory in biga, right, right hand holding long palm, left hand holding reins
Historical Note
Victory in a biga with a long palm was a standard Roman triumphal motif. On Augustan coinage it refers most likely to the triple triumph of 29 BC. The long palm emphasises the scale of the victory. This type is closely related to the wreath-and-palm variant, differing only in the attribute Victory carries.
