About Monetarium
A reference and toolkit for collectors of ancient Roman coins.
Monetarium brings together the things a Roman coin collector normally has to piece together from scattered books, forums, and auction archives: a searchable catalogue, real prices coins have actually sold for, a way to identify a coin in hand, and a place to track your own collection. It covers more than 40,000 coin types from the Roman Imperial and Republican periods.
What you can do here
- See what coins really sell for. We record sold prices from major auction houses so you can judge value from real results, not guesswork.
- Browse the catalogue. Explore by emperor, dynasty, denomination, mint, and reference number, with images and descriptions.
- Identify a coin. Describe what you can see and match it against the catalogue.
- Track your collection. Log what you own and what you paid, and follow its estimated value over time.
- Get listing alerts. Add coins to a wishlist and be told when they appear at auction.
Our approach to data
We care more about accuracy than volume. Prices come from real, curated auction results, and we would rather show nothing than show a number we cannot stand behind. Values shown are for general information and reference. They are not an appraisal, a guarantee, or investment advice.
