Maximian (AD 286 to 305, 306 to 308) served as Diocletian's co-Augustus in the western empire. He reluctantly abdicated alongside Diocletian but returned to politics twice, eventually dying by forced suicide under Constantine. His coins are very common, struck at mints across the western empire throughout the Tetrarchy.
