Theodosius II (AD 408 to 450) had one of the longest reigns in Roman history at 42 years, ruling the eastern empire. He is best known for the Theodosian law code and the massive walls of Constantinople that would protect the city for a thousand years. His coins show the increasingly stylised portraiture of the late empire.
